| 2. If I accept my current problems to the extent that I experience inner peace won't I just feel like giving up the fight to change things for the better?
By encouraging you to explore The Uncommon Path to Inner Peace, we are not suggesting that you give up.
When we refuse to accept things the way they are, because we want a particular solution, then we often have difficultly seeing the situation clearly. When we are coming from fear, then we tend to overlook things we do not want to see.
With acceptance, the motivation to improve the situation comes from compassion instead of anxiety. When action comes from compassion, you can see solutions that were previously overlooked and employ these solutions with a calmness that is more likely to achieve success. From this new perspective, you can gain renewed strength and determination to heal your situation.
When you walk the Uncommon Path to Inner Peace, it is possible to accept things the way they are and not give up.
3. Who is this site for? Is this a site just for people who have autism or other special needs in their family? Is this is site just for people who are parents or care providers?
This is a site for anyone who wants to learn about The Uncommon Path to Inner Peace.
Sometimes when people see the slideshow they feel so much compassion for autism that they assume that our website and our Center is setup to serve only families with autism or other special needs. Of course we offer a heartfelt welcome to people with disabilities and their families. However, we wish to emphasize that the relevance of this site to people with disabilities is the same as for anyone else.
4. Is this site for me, even if I don’t have a child with autism?
Yes, this site is also for people who do not have children with autism. Our experience with our son with autism became a catalyst that accelerated our commitment to realize inner peace in every moment of our lives. The catalyst in your life that is propelling you to search for inner peace may be quite different. But whatever the catalyst, if you want inner peace and joy--then this is the site for you.
5. At The Center for Self Inquiry will I be asked to adopt concepts and beliefs on faith?
No. We don’t want you to believe what we say. We encourage you to look at your own direct experience during exercises and meditations and to see for yourself from your unique perspective if what we suggest holds true for you.
6. I’m really looking for practical support- like how to stay in peace when I’m lifting my mother from the wheelchair to the bed. I want real practical help. Do you have a program for people who want to learn how to practice mindfulness and present moment awareness in their day- to-day lives?
Yes. We have a program called, The Way of Now™:Bridging Present Moment Awareness into Everyday Life.
This is a unique program that offers you the chance to put on your phone headset and actually learn how to cultivate present moment awareness while you perform your daily life tasks. Trevor Hart will guide you through a private phone consultation or a small group conference call sessions to stay in present moment awareness while you're actually involved in the task of lifting your mother from wheelchair to bed. And it’s fun because people from all over the nation and the world are on the phone with you and practicing the same type of meditative focus on tasks in their lives. It’s a one of a kind program and we would be honored to have you participate.
7. Can Quantum Dialogue help me find more positive ways to deal with the grief, fear and frustration I feel as a result of the tragic situation I am facing?
Yes. Quantum Dialogue is a tool that you can use to help you cope with strong emotions.
8. There are many seminars that teach the value of affirmation, positive thought and prayer towards empowering people to manifest their vision and life’s work. Is this the same type of experience I will have at Unconditional Success Seminars?
There are many seminars available that teach you how to manifest your goals. We support this endeavor and we have used some of these principles to manifest The Center for Self Inquiry. At the seminar we will be glad to answer questions about manifestation.
However, our work has a unique twist---We are here to guide you to realize inner peace and joy even when life isn’t giving you what you want.
9. I’ve attended many workshops over the last two decades, and the experiences I had were profound. But when they were over, I still had this longing for something more, for something more that doesn’t leave me. How are Unconditional Success Seminars different?
Beyond tools, techniques and therapy, beyond concepts and beliefs, there is an experience that reveals to you the truth that in all moments of life there is a fullness of heart that never leaves you.
This experience is not an experience…because it is not something that comes and goes. It’s more like a shift in perspective. It’s a shift from identifying with the story of your life to identifying with the life that your story happens in. It reveals that what you’re longing for ---inner peace, freedom, joy, bliss---can be seen when you see who you really are.
It’s more like an awakening that once seen clearly becomes an inner knowing that stays with you even if you seem to momentarily “forget”. And when you remember again, you realize that this fullness of heart has never left you. It is always closer than the breath. It is eternal and always present. This opportunity is very rare---it is true freedom.
10. It looks to me like you're saying that I can be happy in the midst of any traumatic situation. How is that possible? Aren’t I going to be scared if my child is ill and sad if my loved one dies?
We are not saying that you will become happy in such a situation. You will not.
However, the fear and pain can be transmuted into an inner peace and serenity that comes from a very deep place.
11. When you are talking about inner peace and joy are you talking about having a peak experience as described by Abraham Maslow?
The Uncommon Path to Inner Peace and Joy is not meant to be a search for peak experiences because peak experiences have a downside. They come and go.
The Uncommon Path to Inner Peace points to something that doesn’t come and go. It’s beyond peak experiences. It’s more of a valley experience that is always present. As you rest in the valley of Inner Peace, it reveals Joy that is surprisingly more fulfilling than peak experiences.
12. Are Unconditional Success Seminars ever appropriate for individuals who are not experiencing "overwhelming obstacles or tragic situations?"
Yes! Our seminar is appropriate for anyone who wants to know inner peace and joy.
There is a group of people who have been successful in manifesting some of their dreams, but they come to a point where they realize that they still feel unfulfilled and empty inside. These people find that Unconditional Success Seminars can be extremely valuable.
13. My partner and I are struggling with accepting a very challenging situation in our lives. Our child has developed an extremely debilitating disease. We want to know how we can help each other through this situation. Do you have any programs for couples?
Yes! We have a program to help couples in your situation called Sharing The Heart of the Beloved. Currently this work is only available in our Louisville office, but give us a call because we are starting a wait list for couples who would like to attend a Sharing The Heart of the Beloved weekend seminar. And in the meantime, start taking The Way of Now™and Quantum Dialogue™ seminars, small groups conference calls, or individual phone sessions because the more work you each do as individual the faster you will progress when we get to the couple’s weekend.
14. I’m experiencing physical pain. Do you have a program that helps relieve physical pain?
Yes. We offer Kensho Body Energy Session in our Louisville, Colorado office.
15. I was deeply moved by the slideshow presentation and I would like to know how I could help to further your work? Do you take donations? Is there something I could do?
We appreciate your interest in this project. To learn more, go to the Video Documentary page.
16. Is this a religion?
No, it is not a religion. People from all spiritual beliefs and backgrounds are welcome.
17. How is Jaison doing now?
Prayer Request for Jaison’s Back Surgery
Jaison is currently on the wait list for a full spinal fusion at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City to correct for severe scoliosis that would become life threatening without the operation. It is an 8-10 hour procedure with 3-5 days in ICU and 7-10 days in the hospital. There is a 1 in 750 chance of paralysis. Since Jaison has medically uncontrollable seizures, the post-operative period has an increased chance of complications related to pain. We expect the surgery will take place the spring or summer of 2005.
More information about prayer request:
We are still praying for a miracle that Jaison’s back will self-correct from an extensive exercise and nutrition program. Your prayer support in this regard would be appreciated.
During the operation we will be requesting prayers on Jaison’s behalf for a successful surgery including that the fusion heal properly without infection, and that the pain medication be effective. Prayers that Jaison recovers from the surgery with full use of his legs will also be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to place your email address on our prayer partners list, then we can inform you when the surgery is going to take place. Please fill out the form on the contact page and specify ---“please place me on the prayer partner list” if you want to be contacted when the time comes. Your email will not be used for other purposes such as our newsletter, or announcement related to our Sharon’s new book, if you specify on the contact form “prayer partner list ONLY.”
If you would like to put Jaison’s name on your prayer list at your prayer group or place of worship that would also be appreciated.
